Saints' Atwood, Biggins, Womble place among top 10

NEW BERN -- Three Southern Wayne runners finished among the top 10 during an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet contested at New Bern High School.
The Saints top finishers were Cole Atwood (4th, 18 minutes, 37 seconds), Brandon Biggins (5th, 18:42) and Anthony Womble (10th, 18:59).
Charles B. Aycock's Joseph Mooneyham finished third overall with a personal-best time of 18:35. The Golden Falcons' next-highest placers were Hunter Crane (44th, 20:58) and Cameron Sims (45th, 21:11).
Eastern Wayne's Zach Evans ended up 28th in 20:14, while teammate Josh Bartz crossed the line 34th overall in 20:31.
The Bears won the seven-team event with 42 points. Southern Wayne placed fourth with 74 points. C.B. Aycock had 151 and Eastern Wayne scored 181.
On the girls' side, the Golden Falcons' Sarah Gregory took 16th overall in 23:56. Eastern Wayne's highest placer was Kristina Muses (26th, 25:08) and Arineida Morales (35th, 26:05) led Southern Wayne.
Aycock logged 160 points. The Saints had 165 and the Warriors had 194.
