Adkins logs hat trick in WCDS shutout of Pope John Paul

Wayne Country Day opened Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play with a dominating 7-0 victory over Pope John Paul on Tuesday afternoon.
WCDS scored five goals before the half and cruised from there.
"We started brightly to pin them back and put them on their back foot," Chargers coach Steven Ellis said. "With another game (Wednesday) we wated to put it away early and rotate players."
Noah Adkins netted a hat trick (three goals) and Hunter Bryson added two more goals. Jacob Magera dished four assists. Leading scorer Tony Townsend had a goal and an assist and Matt Kierski added an assist.
Ellis also noted the play of Sam Smith and Charlie Roethling.
Wayne Country Day (8-3-1 overall) entertains Word of God today.
