Preps digest: JV, middle schools

JV sports

* Volleyball: Midway d. Rosewood 25-21, 25-7 -- Carrie Beckert had three kills and three digs in the Eagles' loss. Kendall Gurley chipped in with one kill and one dig, while Payton Lane had one dig and four assists. Rosewood (3-7 overall) plays host to Spring Creek today.

* Volleyball: North Lenoir d. Rocky Mount 25-15, 25-19 -- Alison Montague, Madison Cottle and Courtney Carmon had two kills apiece in the Hawks' straight-set win. Jenna Moore recorded 12 points on serve. North Lenoir rose to 4-4 overall this season.

* Volleyball: Goldsboro d. Southern Wayne 25-23, 25-17 -- Tawanna Jones led the Cougars with three kills and two blocks. Juanita Cortes-Torres served eight aces.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Wayne School of Engineering d. Dillard 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 -- Marcy Taylor and Nikki Olmstead served five aces apiece for the Titans, who won their first-ever game -- in their first attempt -- in school history Monday afternoon. Diseree Mills provided four kills. WSE (1-0 overall) entertains Spring Creek at Norvell T. Lee Gym on Thursday afternoon.
