CBA's Mooneyham sets PR in ECC cross country meet

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Joseph Mooneyham set a personal best on his home cross country course during a three-team, Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet Wednesday afternoon.
Mooneyham covered the 5k trek in 20 minutes, 24 seconds.
Teammates Hunter Crane (23:21) and Cody Whaley (23:36) each finished among the top 12. Aycock scored 60 points.
D.H. Conley, led by Noah Elliott's first-place time of 19:00, captured eight of the top 10 spots. Zac Thomas of Rose took sixth.
On the girls' side, the Golden Falcons were led by Sarah Gregory, Tara Price, Mercedes Sterling, Georgia Parnell and Emily Waters. Times and places were not submitted.
"For the first meet of the year, I thought our girls did very well and I was quite proud of them," CBA first-year head coach Frances Morgan said. "We look forward to working on lowering our times throughout the rest of the season."
