CHAPEL HILL -- Five in a row.

Rosewood dominated the spring competition and claimed the 2013-14 Carolina 1-A Conference Wells Fargo Cup championship for the fifth consecutive year.

Regular-season titles in men's and women's outdoor track, baseball and men's golf allowed the Eagles to overtake Princeton, 98-96. The Bulldogs secured league crowns in women's soccer and softball.

"I am so proud of our athletes and our coaches," RHS athletics director Robert Britt said. "This is the fifth year in a row that we have the Cup. That says a lot about our athletic program.

"Our students play multiple sports ... several who play four or even five sports a year. This means our coaches work together to share athletes. Our success as an athletic department is truly a team effort."

Spring Creek captured third with 70.5 points, followed by Lakewood with 66.5. James Kenan (54.5 points), Hobbton (45), North Duplin (42) and Neuse Charter (28) rounded out the eight-team conference.

The Gators and Rebels finished in a three-way tie with Rosewood for second place in softball.

Charles B. Aycock rebounded from a sluggish winter to emerge as the top-finishing 3-A team in the split-classification Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference Cup race. The Golden Falcons, who won the softball championship, edged Eastern Wayne 58.5-57.5.

Southern Wayne compiled 37 points.

D.H. Conley won the Cup.

The inaugural Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference Cup is headed to Deep Run. South Lenoir jumped from fourth to first with a league title in softball and runner-up finish in men's outdoor track.

The Blue Devils collected 54 points. Ayden-Grifton took second with 50, followed by North Lenoir and Kinston with 49 points apiece. Greene Central (44 points) and Goldsboro (43) rounded out the six-team conference.

Goldsboro won the regular-season boys' golf title.

The Wells Fargo Conference Cup, which is co-sponsored by the N.C. High School Athletic Association, recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences. Each conference determines its own method of awarding points based on participation and standings in league play.
