Wayne Christian advances in NCISAA 1A postseason

Wayne Christian scraped together nine hits and beat Hickory Christian 8-3 during opening-round play of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A playoffs Tuesday afternoon.
The sixth-seeded Eagles travel to third-seeded Freedom Christian on Friday. Game time is 5 p.m.
Hunter Burt had three hits to lead the Eagles. Austin Howell and Tanner Rose chipped in two apiece. Nick Easom and Holden Foster each had one hit to round out the offense.
Ted Suggs and Foster combined for 12 strikeouts on the mound.
