Hayes has 3 hits in Saints' mercy-rule softball win

Southern topped Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A conference foe Eastern Wayne, 14-4, on Tuesday evening.
Kelsey Hayes collected three hits including a double and an RBI. Claire Kennedy had four hits and Hope Jones had two hits and an RBI.
Haley Brogden got the win in the circle for the Saints.
Trisha Bell, Debbie Mitchell and Chelsea Wynn led the way for the Warriors with one hit each. Brittany Cox had an RBI.
Bell endured the pitching loss.
Southern Wayne (6-5 overall, 3-3 ECC) entertains North Lenoir today. Eastern Wayne (0-9, 0-6) travels to South Central on Thursday.
