Saints hammer Rampants on softball diamond

Southern Wayne clobbered Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference foe J.H. Rose, 16-3, on Friday evening.
Haley Brogden and Haley Warren each had four hits and four RBI in the mercy-rule game. Keaton Bradley added two hits and two RBI. Kelsey Hayes had three hits and an RBI.
Brogden was the winning pitcher for the Saints, while Morgan Best and Warren appeared in relief. The trio combined for eight strikeouts.
Southern Wayne (4-5 overall, 2-3 ECC) plays host to Princeton on Monday. First pitch is 4 p.m.
