CBA softball rolls past county rival

PIKEVILLE -- C.B. Aycock pounded out 19 hits and cruised past Eastern Wayne, 20-1, in a mercy-rule shortened Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference game Friday evening.
Senior outfielder Cierra Harris led the Golden Falcons' offense with four hits and two RBI. Allison Shingleton (two RBI) and Keeley Fulghum had three hits apiece. Senior first baseman Meredith Burroughs (three RBI), winning pitcher Mckenzie Wheeler (RBI) and Abbie Walton each supplied two hits.
Allie Phillips (two RBI), Michaela Thompson (RBI), Taylor Waddell and Katie Gay each had one hit.
Wheeler posted nine strikeouts and limited the Warriors to two hits inside the circle.
