Trojan netters split league twinbill with archrival

\WILSON -- No. 28-ranked University of Mount Olive extended its win streak to nine matches with a 7-2 decision over Conference Carolinas men's tennis archrival Barton on Thursday afternoon.
Paul Wiederspahn sealed the outcome with a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles. Wiederspahn and doubles mate Stan Roffe also triumphed at the No. 2 spot.
Matt Finnerty and Henric Falkenberg combined for three points, including two in singles play. The duo cruised to an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Roffe and Vazquez polished off the Bulldogs with three-set singles wins.
Women's tennis
WILSON -- The University of Mount Olive held a slim lead after doubles play, but archrival Barton dominated the singles courts and claimed a 6-3 decision in Conference Carolinas play Thursday afternoon.
The Trojans' Francesca Ceppi-Roxanne Chouinard squeezed out a 9-8 victory at No. 1 doubles. Teammates Alejandra Hernandez-Maite Belloso rolled 8-1 on the No. 2 doubles court.
Chouinard claimed UMO's lone singles point.
Mount Olive (9-4 overall, 4-3 CC) entertains Peach Belt member UNC Pembroke on April 3.
