Hollenbacher shares 2nd place at Barton Intercollegiate

WILSON -- Brady Hollenbacher overcame the nasty elements and shared second place overall among individual competitors at the Barton College Men's Golf Intercollegiate.
Hollenbacher carded a two-day score of 3-over 147.
Teammate Sebastian Andersen tied for ninth with a 153. Mark O'Hara shared 15th place with a 156. Jose Ramirez (167) and Jesus Valderrama (168) ended up 32nd and 34th, respectively.
The Trojans and North Greenville shared second place with a team score of 620. Barton claimed the team crown and the Bulldogs' Nicolas Fonseca emerged as the individual champion.
Mount Oilve returns to action this weekend at the Lander Bearcat Golf Classic. The 36-hole tournament begins Saturday.
Men's lacrosse
MOUNT OLIVE -- University of Mount Olive senior attackman Dan Shields has been named the Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse player-of-the-week for the first time this season.
Shields scored nine goals in two games for the Trojans, who posted 17-goal victories over Alderson-Broaddus and Ohio Valley last week. Shields and his brother, Matt, share the team lead with 23 goals apiece.
Mount Olive received votes in the USILA Division II top 25 poll for the second straight week. Weather permitting, the Trojans play host to St. Leo (Fla.) today. Face-off is 2 p.m. at Amon Field.
