North Lenoir slips by Goldsboro in ECC 2A tennis

North Lenoir triumphed on two of three doubles courts, and turned back Goldsboro, 5-4, in an Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference match Thursday afternoon.
The Hawks' second-seeded tandem of Matt Warren-Drew Proctor slipped past the Cougars' Sam de Araujo-Devin Collins, 8-6. The No. 3 duo of Austin Worley-Josh Varnell squeezed out a 9-8 (5) victory over Vincent Spagnuolo-Xan Pate.
Spagnuolo, Collins and Jon Stevens each collected a singles point for Goldsboro, which dropped to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in ECC play this season. The tandem of Josh Matias-Stevens captured the Cougars' lone singles point.
Evan Kramer, Will Hardy and Proctor each won in singles for the Hawks.
