Turnage, Strickland combine for 1-hit shutout

Mitch Turnage and John Strickland combined for a one-hitter and Wayne Country Day blanked Northwood Temple, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon.
Turnage held Northwood hitless for four-plus innings and recorded eight strikeouts. Strickland provided 22/3 innings of one-hit, six-strikeout relief for the unbeaten Chargers.
Strickland (two RBI), Parker Smith (RBI) and Preston Barnes (RBI) supplied two hits apiece. Turnage, Mason Bland (RBI), Jacob Magera (RBI) and Amane Godo each had one hit.
WCDS (2-0 overall) entertains Neuse Christian on Monday.
