Holland's game-winning hit lifts Saints on the road

ROCKY MOUNT -- Matt Holland delivered the game-winning, two-RBI double and Southern Wayne upended perennial Big East 3-A power Rocky Mount, 8-6, in eight innings on Thursday afternoon.
Holland finished with three hits for the Saints, who extended their win streak to four games. Josh Jernigan had three hits and scored two runs, while Kevin Williams (three RBI) recorded two hits.
Garrad Whitfield (RBI) and Chris Reedy (RBI) each contributed one hit. Overall, Southern Wayne had 12 hits as a team.
DJ Skinner emerged as the winning pitcher with 21/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Southern Wayne (4-2 overall) entertains county rival Charles B. Aycock today. First pitch is 5 p.m. on the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex.
