C.B. Aycock weathers rally, edges Hunt 6-5

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock built a 6-0 lead and held on for a 6-5 season-opening victory over Wilson Hunt on Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Falcons led 6-0 after four innings before the Warriors pushed across five runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Bobby Hampton recorded the win on the mound. The junior pitched four scoreless innings and allowed just two hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
Noah West recorded the final out of the game to pick up the save with Hunt threatening with runners on first and second base, and two outs.
Hank Smitherman (two RBI), Hampton (RBI) and Garrett Joyner each had two hits for Aycock. Jake Naughton (two RBI) and Noah West both supplied a hit.
The Golden Falcons visit Rosewood on Friday.
