Mount Olive splits doubleheader with California (Pa.)

MOUNT OLIVE -- The University of Mount Olive split a non-conference doubleheader with California (Pa.) on Saturday at Scarborough Field.
The Trojans claimed the opener 6-1 and the Vulcans prevailed 6-4 in game two.
Mount Olive's Bradon Reitano crushed two long home runs to left field to lift the Trojans past California in game one of the doubleheader.
The Trojans' Cody Britt went 2-for-3 in game two but it was not enough to overcome a three-run deficit in the seventh inning.
The loss for Mount Olive snapped a five-game winning streak.
The Trojans return to action today for the rubber match verses California (Pa.) at Scarborough Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Men's basketball
GAFFNEY, S.C.. -- Dontrell Brite poured in 27 points and Mount Olive defeated Limestone 80-75 on Saturday night in Conference Carolinas play.
Kendall Hargrove supplied 15 points and 15 rebounds for the Trojans and Dominique Reed added 11 points.
Mount Olive (17-8, 11-4 CC) plays host to Barton on Tuesday.
Women's basketball
GAFFNEY, S.C. -- University of Mount Olive rallied from a 10-point deficit early in the second half, but Limestone College used a 15-2 run to pull away to defeat the Trojans 68-52 in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday evening.
Mount Olive's Jasmine McDonald led all players with 19 points and nine rebounds.
The Trojans (15-10 overall, 10-7 Conference Carolinas) trailed by three at halftime and Limestone scored the first seven points of the second half to complete a 16-1 run and take a 33-23 lead.
Mount Olive pulled within 39-38 with 12:40 remaining after another basket by Wallace and a three-pointer by Kirksten Mitchell.
Limestone (20-5, 15-2) regained the lead for good on a basket by Brookins and a pair of free throws by Precilla Hill.
Mount Olive concludes regular season action Tuesday as the Trojans play host to Barton in a Conference Carolinas match-up.
Women's lacrosse
MOUNT OLIVE -- Riann Daziel and Katie McGovern each tied their own school record with five goals apiece as University of Mount Olive remained unbeaten with a 20-8 win over Erskine in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday at Amon Field.
Goalkeeper Hannah Knight also set a school record with 13 saves to help the Trojans win their conference opener.
Mount Olive returns to action next Saturday as the Trojans travel to Gaffney, S.C., to take on nationally third-ranked Limestone in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Game time is 1 p.m.
