WILSON -- Dwayna Sutton's putback at the buzzer gave Greenfield an 85-83, overtime victory over archrival Wayne Country Day on the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference scene Friday evening.
"(A) very good game and great atmosphere," first-year WCDS head coach David Flowers said. "Greenfield was up 14 after the first quarter (and we) continued to answer back."
Senior Lee Atkinson torched the nets for a career-high 39 points and picked Greenfield for five steals. Joel Davis just missed a double-double with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Shahim Muhammed contributed 10 ponits and five assists. Kris Cooley and Jamal Forde supplied nine and eight points, respectively.
WCDS (18-9 overall, 3-3 CPIC) entertains Pope John Paul on Monday.
