Eastern Wayne matmen pin D.H. Conley

Eastern Wayne reeled off 30 consecutive points during a five-match span and dispatched D.H. Conley, 45-31, in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference action Friday evening.
The Warriors claimed a 5-4 edge in contested matches and drew three forfeits against the short-handed Vikings.
Mario Harper (106 pounds), Cainen Miller (126), Kevon Tune (138) and heavyweight Bryan Wooten each pinned their respective opponent. Senior 170-pounder Quadrick Williams remained unbeaten in 12 outings with an 11-8 decision over Shawn Peoples.
Brice Heller (132), Ryshon Rodwell (145) and Justice Johnson (152) each received a forfeit. Heller leads the Warriors with 20 individual victories, while Miller has 19.
Eastern Wayne (10-11 overall, 2-2 ECC) concludes regular-season play at home Wednesday against archrival Charles B. Aycock. The winner clinches the lone ECC 3-A berth to the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual-team playoffs.
