AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Dontrell Brite led three Mount Olive College players in double figures with 15 points during a 70-65, non-conference loss against Georgia Regents University on Sunday afternoon.
Dory Hines chipped in 13 points and Dominique Reed added 11 for the Trojans, who played their final game as MOC. The school will become the University of Mount Olive on Jan. 1.
Sophomore Michael Moore narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and a game-high eight rebounds. Hines, Reed and Kendall Hargrove snagged seven rebounds apiece.
Hines now has 531 career assists.
MOC trailed 33-20 late in the opening half and took its first lead, 53-51, with 8:06 remaining in the game. GRU hit five of six free throws and forged back in front, 56-53, with 6:16 left.
Hines' layup closed the gap to one point, but KJ Sherrill ended GRU's field-goal drought that lasted nearly seven minutes. GRU, formerly Augusta State University, never trailed again.
The Trojans (7-4 overall) return home Jan. 4 for a Conference Carolinas game against Limestone (S.C.) College. Tip-off is 4 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
