Goldsboro scorched the nets for four quarters.

All county rival Charles B. Aycock could do was watch.

The Cougars sank seven 3-pointers in the first half and rolled to an 83-42, non-conference victory at Norvell T. Lee Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Goldsboro swept the regular-season series.

"Tonight we shot the ball extremely well," Goldsboro head coach Russell Stephens said. "We got out to a good start and built an early lead and there was no let down. Our guys kept playing hard and the shots kept falling."

Goldsboro (4-2 overall) opened a 10-0 lead over the first five minutes of the contest. The advantage was 21-6 by the end of the first quarter and the Golden Falcons were desperately trying to hold on.

Rasheed Jackson sank three of his five 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Cougars put the game away. A jumper by Rasheen Artis made the score 42-16 at the intermission.

"I have been on the other side of games like this, but tonight just was not our night," C.B. Aycock head coach Tod Morgan said. "When a team as athletic as Goldsboro shoots the ball like they did tonight they are as good as anybody."

With the game well in hand in the third quarter, both coaches found plenty of time for reserve players. A total of 23 different players recorded at least one point and a total of 27 players appeared in the game.

Artis and Myron Carmon led Goldsboro with 17 points apiece. Jackson added 15 points, all from beyond the arc.

The lone Aycock player in double figures, Michael Williams scored 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

"I think Michael Williams is the best player in Wayne County right now," Stephens said. "I told the guys before the game that if we could hold him to 20 or so it would really help our chances. I thought our defense was pretty solid."

C.B. Aycock (4-4) pays a visit to Greene Central tonight. Goldsboro entertains Eastern Wayne on Friday.
