Middle schools
* Boys basketball: Wayne Christian 27, Goldsboro Heat 24 -- Austin Kornegay paced the Eagles' offense with 14 points. Wayne Christian improved to 4-3 overall. The Eagles will visit Cape Fear Christian on Thursday.
* Girls basketball: Norwayne 37, Grantham 4 -- Norwayne held Grantham scoreless in the second half and earned a 37-4 win on Monday afternoon. Hannah Benson led the Cobras with 12 points. Hannah Carter added eight points. Norwayne (3-0 overall) will visit Eastern Wayne on Thursday.
