Atwell, McCollum lead respective teams

SALEMBURG -- Rosewood sprinter Alysse Atwell and Spring Creek's Rachel McCollum combined to win five events during a Carolina 1-A Conference indoor track meet contested Monday at Lakewood High School.
Atwell placed first in the triple jump (28 feet even), 500-meter dash (1 minute, 35 seconds), 55-meter hurdles (10.45) and ran one leg on the winning 1,600 relay.
Teammates Ashley Duran, Sarah Holland, Brynna Lee and Christine Conger combined for a first-place finish in the 3,200 relay.
McCollum won the 300 (55 seconds) and shot put (29-71/2 feet). Teammate Carly Stevens claimed the long jump (12-8).
On the boys' side, the Gators' Alex Ambriz and Gage Abbott captured the 3,200 and 1,000 runs, respectively. Teammates Wyatt Ocker and Evan Hicks placed second and third, respectively, in the shot put.
