Keating dishes out 35 assists in Trojans' 4-set win

MOUNT OLIVE -- Elyse Keating dished out 35 assists and served three aces during Mount Olive's 14-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Conference Carolinas foe Limestone (S.C.) College on Tuesday evening.
The Trojans (11-13 overall, 8-6 CC) officially clinched a berth in the season-ending conference tournament.
Lauren Lee led Mount Olive with a match-high 13 kills and Dezirae Mackey finished with eight kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Nicole Sparks paced the defense with 19 digs, while Jordan Barnes had 10 digs.
Charnel Austin contributed eight digs and two aces. Sarah Watkins added a match-high five blocks and Montgomery Register contributed two aces.
MOC begins a season-ending, five-match road swing Friday evening at archrival Barton. The Trojans trail the Bulldogs by one game in the conference standings.
Men's golf
WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Mount Olive College bested three top-10 programs and set a school-record team total for 54 holes during the prestigious three-day McDonough Cup.
The Trojans, who finished fifth overall, shot a four-player round of 3-under par 285 on Tuesday and logged a three-day team score of 871. MOC placed ahead of No. 1-ranked Barry (Fla.), No. 2 Columbus State (Ga.) and No. 10-ranked Lynn (Fla.).
Sebastian Andersen fired a 4-under 68 and teammate Sam Crowther shot a 2-under 70 in the third round. Andersen concluded the tournament tied for sixth overall at 213 and is just the seventh golfer in program history to shoot 68 or lower in a single round.
Crowther shared 23rd place. Jesus Valderrama shot his third consecutive 74 and tied for 48th along with teammate Mark O'Hara. Dalton Gore (224) shared 53rd place.
It was the final fall tournament for the Trojans.
Women's golf
St. Augustine, Fla. -- Virginia Lane tied for 22nd overall and Mount Olive College placed eighth as a team during the Flagler Women's Golf Fall Slam, which concluded Tuesday.
Lane shot a 36-hole round of 159. Julie Loennechen carded a 160 and shared 26th place. Stefany King (163) tied for 35th. Anne Barboteau (168) tied for 46th and Lovisa Tillstrom (169) shared 48th place.
MOC shot a team total of 649.
