Sarah Crooks recorded a whopping 28 digs and Wayne Country Day turned back Community Christian 28-26, 18-25, 7-25, 25-19, 15-10 in non-conference action.
Celeste Davis collected 12 kills. Crooks and Bailee Creger posted seven kills apiece. Rachel Uzzell dished out 25 assists. Davis, Creger and Uzzell each logged 17 digs in the five-set thriller.
"It was an epic match to show the drive and determination in this team," first-year WCDS head coach Steve Mau said. "They had a lot of errors, both mental and physical, in the two sets dropped, but answered my call when I told them it was time to turn it on and stop being afraid to show everyone what they can really accomplish."
The Chargers (5-7 overall) entertain Greenfield on Thursday.
