Girls' tennis

North Duplin 9,

Rosewood 0

* North Duplin defeated Rosewood 9-0 in Carolina 1-A Conference play.

Julissa Quintanilla, Jazmin Quintanilla, Casey Whitted, Hannah Smith, Conner Mikitka and Taylor Dilday each picked up a singles point for the Rebels.

The Quintanilla siblings, Whitted-Smith and Mikitka-Dilday completed the sweep in doubles play.

North Duplin improved to 6-0 overall.

Volleyball

Community Christian 3, Wayne Christian 0

* WILSON -- Kelsie Caye collected recorded a kill and a service ace during Wayne Christian's 25-15, 25-15, 25-11 loss to Community Christian in a Carolina Christian 1-A Conference match.

Hannah Sladick and Emily Wells each had one block.

The Eagles (1-10 overall, 1-6 CCC) entertain Grace Christian of Sanford on Tuesday.

Ayden-Grifton 3,

Goldsboro 0

* Goldsboro endured a 25-12, 26-24, 25-5 loss to Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference oppoent Ayden-Grifton.

The Cougars' Becka Pittard finished with four kills and two blocks. Maddie Jara had four aces.

Goldsboro (3-9 overall, 1-2 ECC) entertains North Johnston on Monday.

North Duplin 3,

Neuse Charter 0

* CALYPSO -- Shaily McCarty cranked out seven kills during North Duplin's 25-7, 25-4, 25-13 conquest of Carolina 1-A Conference newcomer Neuse Charter.

Junior Chesney Brown contributed four kills and four aces. Senior Rachel Quintanilla recorded four aces.

The Rebels scored 17 straight points with Jennifer Barrow on serve during the match.

North Duplin (4-6 overall, 4-4 CC) entertain Lakewood on Tuesday.

Boys' soccer

Community Christian 3,

Wayne Christian 1

* WILSON -- Community Christian punched in a pair of second-half goals and handed Wayne Christian a 3-1 defeat on the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference scene Friday.

Hunter Burt scored the Eagles' lone goal in the 14th minute.

The Cyclones answered with goals in the 31st, 56th and 73rd minutes.

Five yellow cards were issed in the game.

Wayne Christian (2-8-0 overall, 2-5-0 CC) entertains No. 1-ranked Grace Christian of Sanford on Tuesday.

Wilson Christian 8,

Faith Christian 1

* Faith Christian scored within the first 30 seconds of the game, but Wilson Christian Academy seized command and claimed an 8-1 win in N.C. Christian Schools Association 2-A action Friday afternoon.

Ryan Collier provided the Conquerors' lone goal off of Jonathan Johnson's assist.

"Wilson Christian is a good, balanced soccer team," Faith head coach Eddie Smith. "They tied the game in the eighth minute and they just continued to attack."

The Conquerors (1-6-0 overall) visit Friendship Christian on Monday and entertain Raleigh Christian on Tuesday.

Rosewood 2,

North Johnston 1

* Than Truong notched both goals during Rosewood's 2-1, non-conference triumph over North Johnston at Branch Pope Field.

Truong knocked in a deflection early in the second half and converted a penalty kick in the 76th minute.

The Panthers collected an own goal.

Rosewood (6-3-1 overall) travel to Neuse Charter on Tuesday.

JV sports

* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 3, New Bern Christian 0 -- Caleb Brewer, Hayes Gerrard and Noah Adkins each scored for the Chargers, who snapped a five-game losing streak. WCDS (3-5-0 overall) travel to Freedom Christian on Tuesday.

* Volleyball: Wayne Christian d. Community Christian 25-7, 25-9 -- The Eagles improved to 7-4 overall and entertain Grace Christian of Sanford on Tuesday.

* Volleyball: Ayden-Grifton d. Goldsboro 25-6, 25-7 -- Courtney Sutton led the Cougars with four aces.
