Southern Wayne boys, girls place 3rd in ECC meet

DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne crossed the finish line third in both the boys' and girls' team standings at an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference cross country meet on Wednesday.
New Bern won the boys' and girls' team portions of the meet.
The Saints' Wesley Smith finished eighth overall in 20 minutes, 40 seconds. Anthony Womble was 10th in 21:18.
Dixie Ramirez was the first Southern Wayne runner on the girls' side to finish in 27:15.
All seven ECC teams will run at New Bern on Sept. 18.
