Wayne Country Day restructured its lineup and handed Lawrence Academy a 7-2, non-conference loss.
The Chargers lost top-seeded Gianna Democko to a foot injury over the weekend. Head coach Joann Logan hopes Democko returns in time for the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A dual-team playoffs in October.
Jennifer Potts, Meredith Roethling, Ally Willman and Margaux Pope each prevailed in singles play for the Chargers. The tandems of Taylor Willman-Mollie Catherine McDonald, Potts-A. Willman and Roethling-Pope swept the doubles.
Wayne Country Day (5-1 overall) return to action Friday and Saturday in the Alice Cobb Memorial at Barton College. The Chargers play defending dual-team state champion Statesville on Friday and Elon School on Saturday.
