KENLY -- Rosewood led from wire-to-wire in the team competition and Nick Adams emerged the individual champion during the final Carolina 1-A Conference golf match contested at Cardinal Country Club.

Adams claimed medalist honors with a 73 and the Eagles posted the top four-player team score of 338. Rosewood, Princeton (374 team total) and Goldsboro (362) clinched berths in the N.C. High School Athletic Association eastern regional Monday at Bear Trail Golf Course in Jacksonville.

Spring Creek's Kyle Stone, North Duplin's Hunter Brock and Ayden-Grifton's Hugh Chappell each qualified as an individual.

Dylan Greene complemented Adams with an 87, followed by Andrew Henn (88) and Jaz Verceles-Zara (90). Taylor Britt and Jeremy Mercer also participated for Rosewood.

Carlin Thomas and Matt Hall paced Goldsboro's runner-up effort with 18-hole rounds of 81 and 83, respectively. Teammates Luke McAlduff and Ian Taylor completed the team scoring.

The Cougars and Ayden-Grifton are returning to the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference next season.

"We appreciate the opportunity to have been a member of such a strong conference that has earned a reputation of integrity, as well as success throughout the state," second-year Goldsboro head coach Ray Lippert said.

Ryne Woodard's 89 helped Princeton finish third.

Stone shot an 82.

James Kenan, Neuse Charter, Lakewood and Hobbton will join the league next season. Kenan, Lakewood and Hobbton played in the Carolina Conference until the late 1990s before moving into the now defunct Super Six Conference.
