Ayden-Grifton slips past Goldsboro on baseball diamond

AYDEN -- Ayden-Grifton remained in contention for a share of its third straight Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season championship with a 3-1 victory over Goldsboro on Thursday evening.
The Chargers (17-6 overall, 7-3 CC) could tie for the league crown if North Duplin loses at Spring Creek tonight.
Jamal Moses surrendered three unearned runs on two hits in a complete-game effort for Goldsboro.
Moses (RBI), Zach Falconer, Jared Howard and Isaiah Core recorded one hit apiece.
Goldsboro (2-20, 0-10) concludes regular-season play at home Monday against Kinston.
