Girls' soccer
Wayne Country Day 6, Oakwood 0
* GREENVILLE -- Margaret Tanner notched a hat trick (three goals) during Wayne Country Day's 6-0 triumph over Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference foe Oakwood on Friday afternoon.
Tanner collected the eventual game-winning goal in the 16th minute on an assist from Sarah Best. One minute later, Tanner logged her second goal to put the Chargers ahead 2-0.
Maggie O'Daniel capped the first-half scoring with a goal in the 31st minute.
Mollie McDonald and Best, who received an assist from Karis Hawkins, extended the Chargers' advantage to 5-0 in the second half. Tanner completed her hat trick around the 60-minute mark.
Wayne Country Day (7-3-1 overall, 4-1-0 CPIC) is the guest of Epiphany next Tuesday.
Baseball
Greene Central 8, Farmville Central 4
* FARMVILLE -- Greene Central scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning and outlasted Farmville Central 8-4 on Friday night.
Austin Batchelor led the Rams with four hits and one run batted in. Taylor Barrow and Austin Martin each had three hits in the win.
Ben Brann pitched two innings of perfect relief to earn the win on the pitcher's mound.
Greene Central (12-7 overall, 9-2 EPC) will host North Pitt on Tuesday.
Softball
Ayden-Grifton 4, North Duplin 2
* AYDEN -- North Duplin failed to push enough runs across the plate in a 4-2 loss to Ayden-Grifton on Friday night.
Mikayla Kock tallied three hits for the Rebels. Casey Thornton, Cory Anderson, Shaily McCarty and Chesney Brown each had one hit in the defeat.
Koch took the loss on the pitcher's mound despite recording five strikeouts.
North Duplin will host Rosewood on Tuesday.
Boys' golf
Webber fires 37
* Wayne Christian's Bryce Webber earned co-medalist honors with a 37 during a recent Carolina Christian 1-A Conference meet.
The Eagles finished with a four-player total of 218 that included nine-hole scores from Tyler Lacerda (58), Baron Wise (61) and Drake Wise (62). Will Garner also participated.
Wayne Christian returns to action in the season-ending CCC tournament, which will be played at Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek.
