Wayne Christian was dealt a dose of bad luck before even taking the field on Friday night.
The Eagles opponent, Epiphany School, suffered its first Coastal Plains 1-A Independent Conference loss of the season on Wednesday night and the Falcons were clearly upset by the result.
Epiphany took out its frustration in a 6-0 victory.
"You can't take anything away from Epiphany," Wayne Christian head coach Daryl Anderson said. "They were coming off a tough loss and they meant business tonight."
The Falcons got on the board in the fifth minute when Lauren Boone collected a rebound off a corner kick and buried a shot. Lake Hoard made the score 2-0 in the 15th minute with a goal off a pass by Coley Bayliss.
Boone added her second goal in the 21st minute and Carson Jones increased the visitors' lead to 4-0 in the 29th minute.
Wayne Christian got its first shot of the game in the 34th minute when Sally Rouse fired just wide of the mark.
The second half was more of a defensive battle as both teams focused on tightening their respective midfields. Epiphany got a goal in the 47th minute when Bayliss jumped on a rebound and beat the keeper. Hoard finished the scoring four minutes later off an assist from Jones.
"I thought we played a little bit better in the second half but by then it was too late," Anderson said. "We just got too far behind to ever really get anything going."
Wayne Christian (4-7-0 overall) will travel to Lee Christian on Tuesday.
