MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College seniors Tim Ebbecke and Giora Sela each earned a spot on the 2013 Conference Carolinas All-Academic men's volleyball team.
Ebbecke and Sela received the same honor a year ago.
A middle blocker, Ebbecke is a double-major in criminal justice and psychology. He ranks 20th nationally in blocks per set.
Sela, who hails from Israel, majors in business management and plays middle blocker in a reserve role.
The duo helped lead the Trojans to their third Conference Carolinas regular-season championship in the league's four-year history. MOC is the No. 1 seed and will host a semifinal-round tournament game on Apr. 10.
Women's lacrosse
MOUNT OLIVE -- Caitlin Sabadish tallied two goals and Kara Lyon provided two assists during Mount Olive's 19-4 loss against No. 3-ranked Limestone (S.C.) College on the Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse scene Wednesday afternoon.
Michelle Scannell and Alysha Kulka added one goal apiece for Mount Olive, which dropped to 7-6 overall and 1-4 against conference opposition this season. The Saints netted 19 goals on just 25 shots, and forced the Trojans into 24 turnovers.
Alex Crawford contributed an assist.
MOC visits Lees-McRae on Saturday.
Men's tennis
MOUNT OLIVE -- East Carolina claimed the doubles point and swept the singles during a 7-0, non-conference triumph over Mount Olive College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Trojans' top-seeded doubles of Edgar Bub-Rik Wolthuis dropped a 9-7 decision. Akio Mariano played the tightest singles match, falling 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 4 slot.
Earlier in the day, MOC's Henric Falkenburg was named the Conference Carolinas men's tennis player-of-the-week. Falkenburg logged a 4-0 record in singles and doubles play combined for the Trojans, who are 11-2 overall and unbeaten in seven league matches this season.
Mount Olive visits Belmont Abbey on Saturday and is the guest of Wingate University on Sunday.
