The Trojans concluded the year 14-13 overall.

Dory Hines finished with 13 points, while Dontrell Brite added 11 points.

The Saints reeled off a back-breaking 35-8 run in the final 12 minutes of the first half and owned a commanding 30-point lead at intermission. MOC never threatened in the second half.

Trojan seniors Jordan Gaffney, Deshaune Green, Caleb Henderson and Mahamed Ibrahim also played their final game.

Women's lacrosse

DUE WEST, S.C. -- Riann Daziel collected four goals and handed out two assists during Mount Olive's 13-11 triumph over Conference Carolinas foe Erskine (S.C.) College on Monday evening.

Maddy Biggar and Heather Cockburn scored two goals apiece for the Trojans, who won their first-ever road game in program history.

MOC goalkeeper Sarah Snell finished with five saves on 20 shots by the Flying Fleet.

The Trojans (3-3 overall, 1-2 CC) travel to St. Leo on Thursday.

Softball

DUE WEST, S.C. -- Kalie Smith's grand slam home run capped a five-run, fifth-inning outburst and helped Mount Olive defeat Erskine, 10-4, in game two of a Conference Carolinas softball twinbill Monday afternoon.

The Flying Fleet won the opener, 5-4.

Smith emerged the third Trojan to belt a grand slam this season. Jennifer Jones and Rebekah McDaniel also homered in the nightcap for MOC, which has swatted eight home runs in its last four games.

Lauren Smith (3-2) went the distance, throwing 101 pitches. She finished with an eight-hitter, striking out two and walking one. Smith carried a shutout into the sixth inning.

MOC (12-6 overall, 1-1 CC) travels to Coker (S.C.) College on March 13.

Women's golf

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Mount Olive College freshman Virginia Lane placed fourth out of 74 golfers with a 3-over-par 75 during opening-round play of the Armstrong Pirate Women's Invitational on Monday.

Lane's 39 in the second half of her round left her three strokes shy of her own school record set at the Myrtle Beach Invitational last October. Lane entered today's final round four shots behind leader Alanze Urizar from Savannah College of Art and Design.

MOC's Julie Loennechen and Emelie Andersson each shot a 39 over the first nine holes. Loennechen is in a tie for 24th after an 82 on Monday. Andersson is three strokes behind at 85, good enough for 39th.

Rounding out the scoring for the Trojans was Emy Ohling (91) in 55th and Sarah Baniszewski (5102) in 68th.

The Trojans are eighth in the team-title chase with a 333.

The 36-hole tournament concludes today at Savannah Quarters Golf Club.
