Goldsboro suffered its third consecutive loss, 57-40, against Wilson Hunt on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors led 24-20 at halftime and broke open the game in the second half. The Cougars pulled to within 42-35 on Tyona Moses' layup early in the fourth quarter.
Hunt closed the game on a 13-5 run.
"We started good and we stopped," Goldsboro head coach LaTina Bullock said. "We have a tendency of doing that. I don't know why, but we stopped playing. We have to want to play hard. It comes from within.
"Until they decide they want to play hard these are the results we'll have. They are capable of playing harder than they are playing."
Moses led the Cougars with 12 points and Amari Thompson supplied 11. Danisha White scored 12 points for the Warriors.
Goldsboro (4-4 overall) travels to Southern Wayne on Friday.
