Charles B. Aycock outscored Rosewood on its way to a 66-46, non-conference victory on Wednesday evening.

A back-and-forth first quarter left the Golden Falcons with a 16-15 advantage after the opening eight minutes. Aycock reeled off nine unanswered points to start the second quarter as forward Myleah Jones dominated the paint, and guards Kayla Newsome and Quanika Artis began to heat up from the outside.

Jones paced the Golden Falcons with 20 points and Taylor Daniels added 12 points. Artis and Newsome each had 11 points.

"It was kind of pick your poison," Rosewood head coach Ryan Wells said. "We started out in a 2-3 zone and they were knocking down shots all over the place. We extended out and go to man-to-man and their post players started to dominate. Just overall they are a well-rounded team."

Eagles' freshman guard Lexi Mercer led all scorers with 21 points and Alicia Burns had 13 points.

"Offensively we found out our shot was going down and we started getting to the rim a little more," Wells said. "It was really just run for run and we went back-and-forth with them. We have to make open shots and layups when we have them. We had open looks all night and that comes with experience."

Aycock (2-2 overall) plays host to Goldsboro on Friday, while Rosewood (0-2) entertains Midway.
