MOUNT OLIVE -- Ramon Gallardo's second-half penalty kick proved to be the game-winning goal and Mount Olive defeated in-state rival Lees-McRae, 1-0, to clinch the final spot in the 2012 Conference Carolinas men's soccer tournament.

The sixth-seeded Trojans (6-8-3 overall) drew the No. 6 seed and travel to third-seeded Erskine on Tuesday. The teams played to a double-overtime scoreless draw Oct. 22 at Amon Field on the MOC campus.

MOC and LMC battled through 67 scoreless minutes until a shot by Trojan forward Craig Allan was blocked in the box by a Lees-McRae defender. A handball was called and Gallardo converted the PK for the one-goal lead.

The Bobcats (3-11-3) had a goal negated due to offsides.

Nick Bernsdorf and Kyle Lavender each recorded one save between the pipes for the Trojans, who earned their first win over Lees-McRae since 1994.

MOUNT OLIVE -- Goalkeeper Carolin Edenhofner withstood a 23-shot attack through regulation and nearly made a save on a penalty kick in overtime, but Mount Olive fell to regular season champion Lees-McRae 2-1 in the Conference Carolinas regular-season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon.

The loss snapped Mount Olive's five-match conference winning streak and was its first loss in five overtime matches this season. The Trojans (7-9-2 overall) grabbed the No. 6 seed for the season-ending conference and travel to third-seeded Limestone today.

Mount Olive was held without a shot until the 30th minute when Maddy Robak's attempt led to the Trojans' first corner kick of the match. Lauren Power took the corner kick and Robak headed the ball in far post to even the match at the 30-minute, 13-second mark.

Edenhofner recorded seven saves in regulation, including a save with 41 seconds left as Lees-McRae had four shot attempts in the final two-plus minutes.

LMC collected the game-winning PK during the 93rd minute.
