SEVEN SPRINGS -- Two teams playing to a draw in soccer is not normally the most entertaining event to watch.

Wednesday's game between Spring Creek and Union proved to be the exception as the two squads finished in a 4-4 deadlock.

"I told the team after the final whistle 'We still have not lost a game'," Spring Creek assistant coach Jeff Sullivan said. "We have two ties so far, but no losses and that is what counts."

The contest was truly a back-and-forth affair.

Union got on the board in the 10th minute when Yoni Martinez collected a crossing pass and buried the Spartans' first shot of the game. Spring Creek answered in the 17th minute when Otto Binar converted a free kick from 20 yards out to tie the game at 1-1.

The Spartans retook the lead in the 21st minute on Martinez's second goal of the game. Again the Gators quickly responded as Brayan Lopez headed home a crossing pass from Govani Avila in the 23rd minute.

Union pulled ahead 3-2 on a goal by Gabriel Valente in the 36th minute.

Spring Creek tied the game once again just one minute later when Binar capped a 30-yard run with a perfectly placed blast.

"I think our offense is really doing a nice job of making good first touches," Sullivan said. "We moved the ball today and that set up some chances within the flow of the offense."

The Spartans scored both goals in the second half, but to the visitors' dismay only one went into the Gators' net.

Union (1-0-1 overall) pulled ahead 4-3 in the 54th minute when Mauricio Amaya found the mark on a rebound. Two minutes later an attempted crossing pass by Avila deflected off a Spartan defender and resulted in an game-tying own goal.

"I think overall we have shown a lot of potential," Sullivan said. "Our guys are coming together offensively and defensively and we have shown that no matter the game situation we are going to play hard and fight back."

Spring Creek (1-0-2 overall) travels to Hobbton today.
