• ROSEBORO -- North Duplin had a good night running the football but could not reach the end zone in a 20-0 defeat at Tri-County 1-A Conference power Lakewood on Friday night.
On two separate occasions the Rebels drove the ball inside the Leopards 10-yard line only to come away empty handed. A turnover on downs ended one possession and another ended when time expired to signal intermission.
Quarterback Tyler Royal led the North Duplin offense with 150 yards on the ground on 21 carries. Julio Mora added 64 yards on 11 totes.
North Duplin (1-1 overall) entertains Hobbton on Sept. 7.
