MOUNT OLIVE -- Joneiqua Gary hit six 3-pointers on her way to a career-high 21 points off the bench, and Mount Olive College cruised past Converse (S.C.) College, 82-46, in a Conference Carolinas women's basketball game Saturday afternoon.

Andrea Jones added 19 points for the Trojans, who extended their win streak to four games and took a one-game lead over archrival Barton in the East Division standings. The teams meet Tuesday evening at Kornegay Arena for game two in their "Battle of the East" series, which benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Jones also dished out five assists and shared game-high honors with a career-matching seven steals. Jasmine McDonald recorded a double-double for Mount Olive with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Destinee Webb added eight points, five assists and a career-high seven steals. Tamara Nesmith led the Trojans with six assists, while Ty Wallace pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.

The Trojans (17-5 overall, 11-2 CC) held a 13-point late in the first half when Jones started a decisive scoring run with a 3-pointer with 3:04 left before halftime. Webb scored the last four points in the half and Jones took over in the second half.

Held to five points in the first 20 minutes, Jones hit a pair of layups and a jumper less than two minutes into the second half to extend the Trojans' lead to 45-16. Nesmith converted a three-point play and Jones went on to score the final six points of the run on fast-break baskets.

MOC led 55-16 with 15:37 left to go.

Gary was making her 20th appearance off the bench.

"I feel like it's my role to provide a spark off the bench," said Gary, a 5-foot-7 sophomore point guard from Norfolk, Va. "I try to bring some energy onto the floor."
