Cole, Vick, Darden battle in state 1-A/2-A swim meet

CARY -- Goldsboro High's Logan Cole recorded a pair of top-seven finishes during the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Classes 1-A/2-A men's swimming championships.

A junior, Cole touched the wall seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.7 seconds and took fifth in the 100 butterfly in 53.59.

Teammate Timmy Vick captured ninth in the 100 breastroke in 1:04.51. Zach Darden placed 15th overall in the 100 free with a time of 52.97 seconds.

The trio, along with Steven Morton, did not place in the 200 medley relay.

Goldsboro finished with 37 points in the team portion of the event. Carrboro claimed the men's team crown, while Raleigh Charter beat its nearest competitor by 140 points to earn the women's team championship.

Triangle Aquatics Center hosted the day-long meet.
