Mount Olive plays host to Field of Dreams clinic

Dust off the cleats, oil up the leather glove and find your bats.
Get ready for some fall baseball action.
The United Way of Wayne County and the Mount Olive College baseball team is co-sponsoring the fourth annual Field of Dreams free youth baseball clinic Saturday at Scarborough Field on the MOC campus.
Registration is 12:30 p.m. and youth ages 5- to 18-years-old are eligible to attend the clinic, which runs from 1-3 p.m. The first 50 youth registered at the gate will receive a scholarship to the 40th annual George Whitfield Baseball Clinic, which is Jan. 14, 2012, at Goldsboro High School.
Trojan head baseball coach Carl Lancaster will briefly talk with the players about doing the right things on and off the field before the group splits up and learns the different aspects of the game from MOC players and assistant coaches.
Youth who attend the clinic and their parents are invited to stick around for the annual home run derby and alumni game that will conclude the day-long festivities.
Mount Olive tied for third overall in the 2011 NCAA Division II College World Series last June in Cary. The Trojans repeated as the Conference Carolinas regular-season and tournament champions, and won their second Southeast Regional title in program history.
