Preps digest: Darden leads Wayne Christian past Cresset

Boys' soccer

* Chase Darden punched in two goals and assisted on another goal in Wayne Christian's 8-0 rout of Cresset Christian in Carolina Christian 1-A Conference play Friday evening.

Victor Kokiko supplied one goal and three assists for the Eagles, who emerged victorious for the third time in their last five outings this season. Chris Smith added two goals.

Connor Jones, Matt Jackson and Graham Fussell logged one goal apiece.

David Swets recorded one assist.

Keepers Jamie Tucker and Tanner Rose combined for three saves in the shutout effort between the posts.

Wayne Christian (3-4-1 overall, 3-1-0 CCC) entertains Community Christian on Tuesday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Volleyball

* GREENVILLE -- Rachel Uzzell dished out a team-high 11 assists and served four aces in Wayne Country Day's 25-17, 25-21, 25-15 loss at Oakwood on the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference scene.

Sarah Crooks contributed nine aces, four kills and three digs. Jessica Zhou had four digs and five assists. Taylor Sledge supplied three aces.

The Chargers (4-8 overall, 1-1 CPIC) entertain St. Paul's on Monday.

Bethel Christian 3,

Faith Christian 1

* Middle blocker Hannah Stocks contributed four service aces, three kills and four blocks in Faith Christian's 25-20, 16-25, 13-25, 25-27 loss against N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region 2-A foe Bethel Christian on Friday evening.

"The girls did really well, stepped it up a lot tonight," said Conquerors' assistant coach Micah Conlon. "Of course, we're disappointed with the loss, but it looks like we're headed in the right direction for the season."

Christina Powell added seven aces and eight assists. Elizabethe Weeks provided three aces and two kills.

Faith Christian (2-3 overall, 1-3 Coastal) travels to Berean Christian on Tuesday.

JV sports

* Volleyball: Oakwood d. Wayne Country Day 25-10, 25-18 -- Taylor Sledge recorded five aces. Tiffany Larsen and Teriece Hawley contributed one ace and one kill, respectively. WCDS fell to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the CPIC.
