C.B. Aycock 5, South Johnston 4

* PIKEVILLE -- C.B. Aycock used the long ball to overcome South Johnston 5-4 on the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference baseball scene on Friday night.

Collin Dubose hammered a three-run home run in the second inning to put the Golden Falcons ahead in the second inning. Jeff Davis belted the eventual game-winning solo home run in the fourth.

Derek Limbaugh claimed the win on the pitcher's mound in four innings of work. Bryant Stafford went the final three innings to get the save.

C.B. Aycock (13-3 overall, 8-1 ECC) will travel to Cleveland High School on Tuesday.

Southern Wayne 11, Cleveland 1

* DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne blasted 15 hits and scored early and often in an 11-1 win over Cleveland High School on Friday night.

Zach Grantham led the Saints with four hits and five RBI. Kevin Wise added three hits. Colton Chrisman, Keith Jones and Cody Davis each added two hits respectively.

Jackson Hayes got the win on the pitcher's mound.

Southern Wayne (10-4 overall 6-2 ECC) will visit Eastern Wayne on Tuesday.

Greene Central 2, Beddingfield 1

* WILSON -- Greene Central got a strong start from Derek Grant and slipped past Wilson Beddingfield 2-1 on Friday night.

Grant tossed a complete game and struck out five batters to pace the Rams.

Gunner Tyndall led the victors at the plate with two hits and an RBI.

Greene Central (9-4 overall, 7-1 EPC) will travel to Tarboro on Tuesday.

North Lenoir 12, Triton 2

* LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir got its offense going early in a 12-2 win over Triton on Friday night.

Chastin Radford led the Hawks with two hits and an RBI. Spencer Bass and Bryan Hardy each hit a home run in the victory.

Caleb Kearney pitched a complete game and struck out three batters to earn the win.

North Lenoir (12-2 overall, 7-2 ECC) will travel to South Johnston on Tuesday.

Ayden-Grifton 21, Goldsboro 1

* AYDEN -- Goldsboro never got its offense going in a 21-1 defeat at Ayden-Grifton on Friday night.

The Cougars lone run came when Zach Falconer belted a base hit that plated Jamal Moses in the fourth inning. Needham Core had Goldsboro's only other hit.

Goldsboro (2-12 overall) will travel to North Duplin on Tuesday.

Softball

Rosewood 6, Princeton 5

* PRINCETON -- Rosewood jumped out to an early lead and held off a late Princeton rally in a 6-5 victory on the Carolina 1-A Conference softball scene Friday.

Alicia Burns and Meghan Tyndall each recorded two hits and two RBI in the Eagles' victory.

Amanda Beckert went the distance in the pitcher's circle to earn the win.

Savanna Massengill and Traci Bridgers each had two hits for the Bulldawgs.

Princeton (8-5 overall, 3-1 CC) will host Spring Creek on Tuesday. The same night Rosewood (5-6, 4-0) will be the guest of Ayden-Grifton.

Southern Wayne 5, Cleveland 2

* DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne earned its second win in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play with a 5-2 triumph over Cleveland High School on Friday.

Madison Davis led the Saints in the pitcher's circle with a complete game performance that featured 11 strikeouts.

Southern Wayne (3-10 overall, 2-6 ECC) will battle Spring Creek on Monday.

Ayden-Grifton 21, Goldsboro 0

* AYDEN -- Goldsboro failed to get on track at the plate in a 21-0 loss to Ayden-Grifton on Friday night.

Britney Johnson led the Cougars with a hit and a stolen base.

Goldsboro (0-9 overall) will travel to North Duplin on Tuesday.

Girls' soccer

Kinston 4, Southern Wayne 3

* DUDLEY -- Kinston edged Southern Wayne 4-3 in non-conference play on Thursday night.

Nichole Casto, Taylor Hood and Cynthia Rivera each scored for the Saints.

Middle Schools

* Baseball: Wayne Christian 13, Ridgecroft 3 -- Hunter Burt led the Eagles with four hits on the day. Tyler Mozingo and Carlyle Smith each tallied three hits in the win. Wayne Christian (6-1 overall) will host Village Christian on Monday.

* Softball: Grantham 7, Rosewood 6 -- Kelsey Hayes pitched three sterling innings of relief and earned the win in the pitcher's circle for the Bulldogs. Hayes added three hits to the Grantham offense. Aubrey Sasser finished with two hits. Grantham (10-0 overall) will travel to Norwayne on Thursday.
