Princeton 5, Triton 1

* PRINCETON -- The Bulldawgs got off to a hot start and never looked back in a 5-1, non-conference win over Triton on Monday night.

Princeton scored three runs in the first inning and added two more in the fourth in support of winning pitcher Traci Bridgers. The right-hander went the distance and struck out seven batters.

Megan Gerrell led the Princeton offense with three hits. Katlyn Peedin, Nicole Melvin and Bridgers each finished with one hit in the win.

Princeton (8-4 overall) visits North Duplin on Thursday.

Boys' tennis

Rosewood 9, Spring Creek 0

* Rosewood moved within one victory of clinching the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season championship with a 9-0 victory over county rival Spring Creek.

Matt Binda, Antonio Henriques, Cole Radcliff, Zach Behrend, Daniel Elawar and Fuad Ismail each claimed a singles point.

The Eagles (10-1 overall) remained unbeaten in four league matches this season.

Wayne Christian 8, Coastal Christian 1

* Wayne Christian controlled the action through singles play and rolled to an 8-1, non-conference win over Coastal Christian on Monday afternoon.

Christopher Easom, Daniel Glover, Woody Sasser, Kenneth Giordano and Matthew Jackson each prevailed in singles action for the Eagles.

The tandems of Christopher Easom-Glover, Nicholas Easom-Sasser and Giordano-Jackson each won their respective doubles match.

Wayne Christian (5-4 overall) plays host to Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Thursday afternoon at Herman Park.

Girl's soccer

Southern Wayne 3, Kinston 2

* DUDLEY -- Cynthia Rivera scored two goals and tallied an assist as Southern Wayne bested Kinston 3-2 on the pitch at the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex on Monday night.

Mallory Gray added the Saints final goal. Nichole Casto and Taylor Hood each finished with an assist.

Southern Wayne (3-11 overall) travels to Eastern Wayne tonight.
