Chargers log 1-2 record

* CARY -- Tyson Pearson came within one batter of recording a perfect game, and Wayne Country Day throttled East Wake Academy, 15-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Pearson held East Wake hitless on 59 pitches, logged eight strikeouts and walked one batter in the mercy rule-shortened contest. At the plate, he cranked out two triples and drove in three runs.

Cody Neal (RBI), Hil Tanner (three RBI) and Cole Davis (RBI) notched three hits apiece. Mason Bland (RBI), Thomas Kierski (RBI), Trent Proimos (RBI), Wyatt Bland (RBI) and Bryce Creger (RBI) also contributed to the victory.

The Chargers dropped a 14-4 decision to Wake Christian on Friday.

Neal and Kierski cranked out two hits apiece, while Pearson knocked in three runs. Davis endured the mound loss.

North Raleigh Christian handed WCDS a 14-0 loss on Friday.

Neal, Pearson, Tanner and Proimos each had one hit. Pearson suffered the defeat on the mound.

Wayne Country Day (5-5 overall) returns to action Tuesday at The Oakwood School.

* RED SPRINGS -- Four different players scored goals in Wayne Country Day's 4-0, non-conference triumph over Flora MacDonald Academy.

Catherine Ford, Sarah Best, Abby Pope and Catherine Langston each found the back of the net in the game.

The Chargers collected their second consecutive shutout of the season.

WCDS (4-4-0 overall) travels to The Oakwood School on Tuesday.
