BELMONT -- Another walk-off loss.

Chris Vazquez connected on a two-out, bases-loaded RBI single and Belmont Abbey shocked No. 1-ranked Mount Olive College, 6-5, in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon.

The Crusaders (29-10 overall) claimed the best-of-three Conference Carolinas series 2-1 after winning in walk-off fashion in game two on Saturday.

Joseph Westbrook drove in three runs for the Trojans, who lost a conference series for the first time this season. Mount Olive (28-5, 14-3 CC) holds a half-game lead over Belmont Abbey in the standings.

Westbrook's two-RBI, fifth-inning double put the Trojans on the board in the fifth inning. He scored on an error to tie the game at 3-3.

Vazquez's RBI single helped Belmont Abbey take a 5-3 lead in its half of the fifth. MOC answered two innings later on Westbrook's RBI single and Antonio Callaway's RBI double.

Trojan starter Pete Levitt struck out seven in 4 1/3 innings and Jeremy Hall allowed only two hits in 3 2/3 innings of relief. After Hall issued a lead-off walk in the bottom of the ninth, David Combs (4-1) took over and struck out the side.

In the bottom of the 11th, a lead-off walk and a one-out double by Justin Vasquez put Belmont Abbey runners on second and third. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Combs got a foul out to first for the second out of the inning. Vazquez singled to right center to end the game.

Mount Olive concludes regular-season play at home this weekend against Erskine (S.C.) College. The teams will play a single game at 6 p.m. on Friday, and wrap up the best-of-three series with a doubleheader on Saturday.
