WINTERVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock continued its late-season surge and achieved perfection during the multiple-team, South Central Duals on Friday evening.

Fourteen of 17 grapplers won at least one match for the Golden Falcons, who finished 4-0 during the seven-hour marathon event. Aycock slipped past Washington, rolled over Pasquotank and avenged an earlier loss to South Central.

The Golden Falcons (20-10 overall) recorded five falls against South Central, which was a former member of the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference. Junior 130-pounder David Romo, who finished 4-0 on the night, earned a decision along with teammates Khaleil Owens (152 pounds) and Jarrod James, who prevailed at heavyweight.

"South Central was the true test to see where we stand at this point in the season, and our young men really stepped up," said Aycock head coach Marc Peck.

Aycock finished the night with a 54-27 romp over short-handed East Carteret. The Golden Falcons extended their win streak to five matches, and have won eight of their last 10 duals overall.

Owens, Daniel Romo, Zeb Darden, Nick Simmons and Travion Lewis picked up three individual wins apiece. James, who joined the team in January, compiled a 2-0 worksheet. Jamar Owens, Preston Tucker, Zach Rhue and Jorge Flores each earned two wins on the night.

Jordan Bailey and Andrew Chambers each won one match.

Jaquan Walker, Broc Doyle and Charlie Mills also saw mat time.

"We really turned the corner and we hope to ride this momentum into the state dual playoffs," said Peck.
