Princeton earns home win

PRINCETON -- None of Princeton's 16 opponents have found a way to slow down the Dawgs' offense yet this season.

Add North Duplin to the list.

Ben Jacobs led the way with 29 points and 13 rebounds and the Dawgs led from start to finish in an 80-49 victory over the Rebels on Saturday night.

"I am really pleased with how my guys played tonight and I don't want to nit pick on the small stuff that we messed up," Princeton head coach Jeff Davis said. "I thought the whole team did their job and our defense was good enough to allow us to get ahead."

After one quarter the Dawgs held an 18-8 lead. By halftime the advantage had ballooned to 19 points.

The Rebels opened the third quarter with back-to-back baskets from Breyon Johnson and Devin Oliver to cut the gap to 15, but that is as close as the visitors would get. A pair of buckets by Jacobs and a 3-pointer by Wes Wood extended the lead to 21 and the Dawgs never looked back.

"I think Wes is the most unselfish player I have ever coached," said Davis. "He is not at all concerned with his stats so it was nice to see him have a night where his shots were falling and he was getting good looks."

Wood finished with 18 points. Justin Foy also reached double figures with 11 points.

Breyon Johnson paced the Rebels with 14 points and three rebounds. Tyler Boyce added 12 points and Devin Oliver finished with nine points.

North Duplin (4-6, 2-1) plats to host Spring Creek on Tuesday. The same night Princeton (16-0, 3-0) enterains archrival Rosewood.
