WAVE volleyball: Tsunami 14U goes 1-3 in Greensboro

GREENSBORO -- Ashley Thornton served 13 total aces and Britni McAlduff paced the defense as the WAVE Tsunami 14-Under team competed in the USA Volleyball-Carolina Regional Volleyball Association tournament at the Greensboro Sportsplex.

The Tsunami finished 1-3, with their only victory coming in straight sets against TVSC Tornados. Ashley Thornton led Tsunami with five aces in the match.

Sandhills Lightning, Champion and HAVC Blaze each handed Tsunami a two-set defeat.

Offensive leaders for the tournament along with Thornton were Savannah Parker (five aces), Lexie Reyes (four aces) and McAlduff (four aces). Parker and Sara Rice provided three kills apiece, while McAlduff and Kaylee Lyon each had two.

McAlduff recorded eight digs in the four matches, while Regan Modica supplied seven digs. Reyes and Thornton had five digs apiece. Lyon passed four assists, while Morgan Foss and Rice dished out three and two assists, respectively.

The WAVE 15U Vipers claimed the silver medal.
