Boys' basketball
Faith Christian 50,
Liberty Christian 24
* DURHAM -- Matthew Lambert scored a team-high 19 points to lead Faith Christian to a 50-24 win at Liberty Christian on Thursday night.
Silas Denlinger finished with 11 points for the Conquerors.
Faith (10-5 overall) plays host to Falls Road tonight.
Faith Christian-RM 73,
Wayne Christian 65
* Wayne Christian suffered a 73-65 non-conference loss to visiting Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Thursday night.
Tyler Mooring led the Eagles with 16 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and four steals. Chase Darden provided 14 points and Chase King supplied 13.
Chandler Harrell had nine points and eight rebounds.
Wayne Christian (4-9 overall) entertains Carolina Christian 1-A Conference foe Cresset Christian tonight.
Girls' basketball
Faith Christian-RM 37,
Wayne Christian 36
* Ashley Weeks' putback with 17 seconds left helped Faith Christian of Rocky Mount escape with a 37-36, non-conference win at Wayne Christian on Thursday evening.
The Eagles took a 36-35 lead with 30 seconds remaining in regulation before Weeks' gave Faith Christian the lead for good.
Brooke Barfield led Wayne Christian with 14 points. Kayla Kennedy contributed 12 points. Summer Brathwaite grabbed eight rebounds and Carly Hightower and Katie Isenhower each had seven rebounds.
The Eagles (2-10 overall) play host to Cresset Christian tonight.
Middle schools
* Boys' basketball: Neuse Christian 48, Wayne Christian 34 -- Bryce Norman paced the Eagles with 15 points.
* Girls' basketball: Brogden 28, Mount Olive 19 -- Whitney Houston led Brogden with 10 points. Jasmine Covington added eight points and Cameron Brown had five. Brogden entertains Eastern Wayne on Wednesday.
